How long is the Tralee – Fenit Greenway?
The Tralee to Fenit Greenway is 13.6km one way, to cycle the trail one way will take one hour and to walk the trail it will take three hours and twenty minutes approximately.
Where can you start the Greenway from?
The start of the Tralee to Fenit Greenway is at the Tralee Train Station, Oakpark road, however there are many aceess points along the train including Kerry District League Club Mounthawk Tralee, Bracker O’Regan Road Tralee, Cotters Bend, Kilfenora and the end Fenit.
Where can I park to join the Greenway?
The start of the Greenway is accessible from various car parks in Tralee Town, paid parking is available at Tralee Train Station. Further on the trail parking is available at Kerry District League Club Mounthawk Tralee and Fenit village.
How near is the start of the Greenway to The Ashe Hotel?
The start of the Greenway on Oakpark road is a five minute walk from The Ashe Hotel.
Where is there to stop on the Greenway?
There are picnic benches available on the Greenway trail, packed lunch is available and can be ordered through our reception desk. Please note that there are no litter bins on the Greenway trail as it’s a leave no trace trail and any litter must be taken with you.
Is the Tralee – Fenit Greenway accessible?
Yes, the Tralee to Fenit Greenway is accessible, the surfacing, access points and picnic benches are all accessible. The surface of the trail is bike, buggy, wheelchair and scooter friendly.
Where can I hire a bike?
There are a number of bike hire retailers available in Tralee town. Tralee Bike Hire is our bike hire partner, others include LikeBike and Tralee Gasworks Supplies
If I bring my own bike can I store it at the hotel?
Yes, if you would like to store your bike in the hotel overnight we have storage available
Is it possible to cycle or walk one way?
Yes you can of course cycle or walk one way, if you have hired your bike you will need to arrange for the bike to be collected from Fenit and this will need to be arranged when making your bike hire booking. If you have walked out to Fenit you can arrange for a local taxi to collect you from Fenit village.
What is there to do in Fenit village?
Once you arrive in Fenit village you will find bike racks near the old railway line foot bridge and a few meters on there are toilet facilities available.
For food & beverage in Fenit Village, you have a selection to choose from including Mike’s Café, Navo Café and the West End Bar & Restaurant.
To the delight of kids there is a playground in the middle of the village and a Blue Flag beach to enjoy.
Explore the pier where local fishing enthusiasts fish from or admire the boats docked in the Marina. At the end of the pier there is a magnificent bronze monument of Brendan the Navigator, climb the steps up and enjoy breath-taking views of the bay. Stroll the path along the beach or enjoy a picnic on one of the picnic benches overlooking the Atlantic and Fenit Lighthouse. At the end of the path you’ll find old diving boards and changing area, a location popular with locals for a sea swim. Fenit beach has been awarded Blue Flag Status and during Summer months a lifeguard is present.
